Hey, everybody! We're back! Anything happen while I was gone?
What was meant to be our annual month-long break turned into a much longer and pretty terrible time for me. I was called away to Tennessee to be with my mother while she was recovering from a respiratory illness that unfortunately took a turn for the worst. She passed away on March 23rd, and well... Comics kind of didn't matter to me for a little while.
I'd like to tell you all how appreciative I've been of all the messages of support I've received through the site and social media. I didn't expect to get as attached as I have when I started this thing 4 years ago, and it kind of blows my mind that strangers would be so nice to me. Thank you all.
Now we're back. Crank and Allen are back and well rested and ready to blow your mind with this last year of the Blood and Drool story arc. I've had many people asking, "This is the last year for Battlepug? What the hell, man?".
It's true, this version of BP will end, but by no means will I stop making Battlepug. It just may take another form. Maybe a comic book this time. We'll see. We have a year :)
While I was in Tennessee, I was told that we've been nominated for a National Cartoonist's Association Rueben Award. That's a pretty big deal. And competition is stiff. Cross your fingers for us!
This Thursday, sees the Chicago release of Battlepug Hoppy Brown Ale from Arcade Brewery here in town. You'll be able to buy it in select stores, but probably not outside of the Chicagoland area. But hey, who knows? If it does well... There's a launch event being held this Friday at Geek Bar Chicago! If you're in the area, please check it out. They'll be giving out special signed bottles by yours truly. There will be another event on Saturday 9m for the Hero Initiative in the Grant Park Room of the Hyatt conference center at McCormick Place. I'll be there with great guys of Aw Yeah! Comics and Christy Blanch and Mark DAREDEVIL Waid. Battlepug Beer will flowing freely (not free though, I think you gotta pay for it.).
I'll be attending the C2E2 all weekend. Look for me in artist's alley at table G2 (when I'm not at the tattoo pavilion getting drawn on!).
Lastly, at the urging of a few friends, I've started a Patreon account. It's mostly so Allen and Crank get compensated better. We make a little money off the printed collections, but no where near enough to live on, and those guys do some amazing work. If you're feeling generous, please check it out.
Whew, that was a lot.
Seriously, everyone... Thank you for all the support. You are the best.
